How NeuRemedy Works

NeuRemedy is a dietary supplement that helps support healthy function of the nerves in the feet and legs.  The dietary ingredient in NeuRemedy is used worldwide to promote healthier nerve function. The specialised proprietary formulation in NeuRemedy contains benfotiamine. Benfotiamine has been used since the early 1960’s to successfully help tens of thousands of people support the healthy functioning of their nervous system. It has been extensively studied in the scientific literature and has been shown to be safe and effective. Foot Health International has recently made NeuRemedy available in New Zealand.

Vitamin 12 NeuRemedy

NeuRemedy and the B-vitamins

Adequate blood levels of the micro-nutrient thiamine (Vitamin B1) are essential for the proper functioning of the nerves in the feet and legs. People with low levels of vitamin B1 benefit from a more bioactive form of thiamine to help their nerves to function properly. This population includes, but is not limited to, the elderly, people with diabetes, and patients on certain medications. For these people, NeuRemedy delivers a highly bioactive form of the micro-nutrient thiamine to where it is needed, the nerve cells.

Where B-vitamins come from and why they are important

Thiamine (Vitamin B1)

Vitamin B1 is also known as thiamine and is essential for the production of coenzymes. Coenzymes combine with other substances in your body to form enzymes.  Enzymes are proteins and are used in the body to speed up chemical reactions.  In the case of thiamine the chemical reaction which is being speed up are the millions of tiny reactions between each nerve cell as they transmit signals throughout the body.  For those who like all the details, thiamine acts as a coenzyme in the product of the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine.  Acetylcholine is the chemical messenger between nerve fibers.
Thiamine is found in whole-grain cereals, bread, red meat, egg yolks, green leafy vegetables, legumes, sweet corn, brown rice, berries, yeast, the germ and husks of grains and nuts.

Cobalamin (Vitamin B12)

Vitamin B12 is also known as cobalamin and has a key role in normal functioning of the brain and nervous system.  Vitamin B12 is the largest and most structurally complicated of the B vitamins.
Vitamin B12 is found in animal products such as fish, meat, poultry, eggs, milk and milk products.  Vitamin B12 is generally not present in plant foods.  Fortified breakfast cereals are a readily available source of vitamin B12 – check the label for details of the percentage of daily requirement available from the cereal.

Benfotiamine (Bioactive vitamin B1)

Benfotiamine is thiamine (Vitamine B1) in a bioactive form.  Bioactive form simply means that thiamine has been reproduced in a chemical structure which is more easily absorbed by the human body.  This is key to how NeuRemedy works by giving the body a form of B vitmain for nerve health in a form which can be absorbed before it is excreted from the body.
